35+ years of career span. Have extensive experience in Power Plant Projects covering power station electrical design, equipment sizing for main generation and plant auxiliary distribution systems design of new, retrofit and replacement MV & LV substations, design of MV & LV distribution systems,

Have extensive experience in Power Plant Projects covering power station electrical design, equipment sizing for main generation and plant auxiliary distribution systems, design of new, retrofit and replacement MV & LV substations, design of MV & LV distribution systems, coordination of HV substation interfaces and generation equipment requirements to meet international grid codes, and providing site support (36 years in UK, 1½ years in Middle East, including 23 years in consultancy).

Have sound understanding of Oil & Gas projects for PDO, Sadara and Aramco (2¾ years in Middle East) managing small generation, pipeline and oil well production projects within budget and tight schedule. Familiar with oil well production facilities, pump/valve/surge relief/pressure reducing stations and scraper launcher/receiver and jump-over facilities that support pipeline network design.

Experience spans machine design (motor and generator), power plant bid proposals, FEED studies, detail design, EPC & EPCM projects, and consultancy services - from conceptual design, tender specifications, bid evaluation, contractor selection, detail design review, to site support and attendance at technical clarification meetings.
Project managed various MV electrical substation projects.

Have extensive knowledge about coal-fired, oil-fired, gas turbine (open, combined and co-gen), small hydro, wind farm, carbon capture & storage, battery energy storage plants, and HV, MV & LV substations.

Worked within a team of 35 engineers that was set up to help the UK Government (DECC) to conduct a technical review and analysis of competitive bids for a 300MW Carbon Capture and Storage Plant.
Did a FEED feasibility study for a 100MW Battery Energy Storage Power Plant in UK, working in conjunction with AES – results of the study indicated that the plant was economically and technically feasible.

Recently, led the development of design and sizing of both the DC electrical power supply conversion system and the busbar system for the up-scaled prototype hydrogen electrolyzer plant for ITM Power in UK - the generation and storage of hydrogen is a new form of energy storage system.

Worked on contracts worldwide, familiar with international standards, codes of practice and grid codes and experienced in out-of-sequence and reverse engineering processes.
Worked short spells in many countries on all continents, and have experience of training many engineers in and outside UK.
